Phat Phillie (Blackout crew) is a resident DJ (and promoter) of Blackout Classics, Zagreb’s coolest weekly event. Held at the city’s coolest urban nightspot Club Aquarius, it has hosted sold-out shows by artists such as Busta Rhymes, Redman, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff, De La Soul, Royce Da 5’9”, Masta Ace, Raekwon, OC and Big L (rip), Das EFX, Tha Alkaholiks, Jeru The Damaja, Dilated Peoples, Naughty By Nature, The Brand New Heavies...
Phillie got into hip-hop way back in 1984 after hearing UTFO’s Roxanne Roxanne on Zagreb’s legendary station Radio 101 and watching classic films such as Beat Street, Wild Style and Breakin’.
Following a brief stay in the US in 1991 he met DJ Frx with whom he co-hosts Blackout Radio since '93, Croatia’s number one rated hip-hop radio show on Radio 101. To mark the show’s 10th anniversary, they released Blackout 10 (The Best Of Hip-Hop), a compilation of the most important tracks released by artists from Croatia’s richly diverse and exceptionally creative hip-hop scene.
Phillie has DJ-ed not only in Croatia, but also in New York, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Holland and Macedonia. A regular guest on numerous Croatian television shows, he has appeared on Germany’s music television station VIVA TV (Mixery Raw Deluxe) and MTV Europe (MTV Mash). Phillie has also penned articles for a number of the world’s leading hip-hop magazines including Backspin (Germany) and The Source (US) and interviewed artists such as 50 Cent, N.O.R.E., Wu-Tang Clan, Ice-T, Nile Rodgers (Chic), DJ Premier... He can even be heard in a skit on the Dilated Peoples LP 'The Platform'.
As CEO of Blackout Entertainment Croatia, Phillie also manages three of Europe’s hottest hip-hop producers - Koolade, Baby Dooks and Dash, who have worked with the likes of Bow Wow & Omarion, Jadakiss, Erick Sermon, Redman, Lil’ Mo, Styles P, Fatman Scoop, Sean Paul, Fat Joe, Angie Martinez, Das EFX, Joy Danelane, Afu-Ra, Masta Ace, Edo G, El Da Sensei, Consequence, Sadat X, Baby Bash, Pitbull, Masta Killa (Wu-Tang), Miri Ben-Ari, Ghostface Killah, Mizz Nina (Maylasia), Colby O Donnis…

Phillie was one of the judges of the European Heineken DJ Thirst competition and started an online Blackout TV Channel (www.youtube.com/BlackoutTV1) & a hip-hop blog www.blackouthiphop.com . He is a part of the international crew of DJ’s called “The Bumsquad” and publishes a hip-hop magazine of the same name.
Most recently, Phillie started playing a role of an executive producer of a second installment of the classic "Heavy Rhyme Experience" album for a UK acid-jazz band The Brand New Heavies as well as a debut album "The Makings" for a Croatian producer Koolade. He also formed a soundsystem called Likwit Bumz with MC J-RO from a legendary hip-hop group THA ALKAHOLIKS. The guys have been rocking clubs and festivals in Europe as they performed in Chemnitz, Rome, Luzern, Frauenfeld Open Air, Hamburg, Frankfurt (Cocoon), Sofia, Skopje, Zagreb, Sarajevo & the coast of Croatia.
He remains committed to raising the profile of his team of producers and to securing Croatian hip-hop’s rightful place at the forefront of the global hip-hop evolution.
